KDU International Journal of Criminal Justice (KDUIJCJ) is a multidisciplinary, biannual, peer-reviewed research journal of the Faculty of Criminal Justice, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Sri Lanka that seeks to publish high-quality research papers presenting system-wide trends and problems in crime, society, science, law, and justice throughout the world. The journal has an international focus and does not restrict itself to any regional or local jurisdiction. This journal is an open access international journal, with no payment or subscription involved, the authors are free to submit/publish their papers and readers are free to access the e-version of the journal.
KDUIJCJ invites unpublished research papers based on empirical research, theoretical analysis and debates, and policy analysis and critiques on the contemporary issues which include but are not limited to the areas of criminology, penology, victimology, the criminal justice system, forensic science, policing, juvenile justice, gender justice, conflict resolution, security studies, management, and international relations and politics. It provides a forum for both young and senior scientists in the discipline of criminal justice to share their latest research findings for policymaking concerning crime, society, science, law, and justice through innovative and advanced methodologies.
KDU International Journal of Criminal Justice provides a comparative and international overview of crime, society, science, law, and justice from a cross-cultural perspective. As a peer-reviewed journal, the journal encourages the submission of original research studies, research/case notes, reviews, and commentaries that focus on broadly defined criminal justice-related topics in international, regional, and/or comparative contexts. Articles may focus on a single country or compare comparative issues affecting two or more countries and issues affecting globally. Manuscripts may also emphasize historical topics.
The journal provides a forum for any academic or professional who would focus on the various perspectives on the discipline of criminal justice and share their current research findings relating to the issues of criminal justice.
Since, the purpose of KDUIJCJ is to provide a forum for the dissemination of new ideas, new information, and the application of new methods to the problems and functions of the criminal justice system, the journal emphasizes innovation and creative thought of the highest quality.

The KDU International Journal of Criminal Justice is the first journal published by the newly established Faculty of Criminal Justice, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University Sri Lanka.

Accepted papers if not published within a particular issue’s duration due to an excess number of accepted papers, will be published in future (regular) issues/special issues.
The Advisory Board and Editor-in-Chief will annually review performance metrics, promote diversity on the editorial board, and strive to build an inclusive environment where everyone can flourish.
The theme of the Issue II of volume 1 will be “Criminal Justice in the 21st century: Prospects, issues and challenges”.
The KDU International Journal of Criminal Justice invites the submission of manuscripts on the historical evaluation/comparison and contemporary issues in the areas of criminology, penology, victimology, the criminal justice system, forensic science, policing, juvenile justice, gender justice, conflict resolution, security studies, management, and international politics and any other subject area related to criminal justice. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor in Chief, accompanied by an assurance that the paper has not been published, submitted, evaluated, and/or accepted elsewhere.
Authors are requested to submit their e-copy of the manuscripts through electronic mail (Word or Windows attachment) to ijcj@kdu.ac.lk
Manuscripts submitted to the Journal should range from 3,000 to 10,000 words in length, including abstract and footnotes. In exceptional circumstances, the journal will extend this limit to 15,000 words for articles that make an important contribution to the field of criminal justice.
Manuscripts should be accompanied by an abstract (maximum 300 words) including 4-5 keywords. The abstract should be in italicized text and the keywords should be listed in alphabetical order, separated by commas, and with a full stop at the end. The abstract should highlight the research background, objective/s, main research problem, hypothesis, methodology, major findings, and conclusion in brief.
The KDU International Journal of Criminal Justice supports the APA style citation 6th and 7th editions and requires that all publicly available datasets be fully referenced in the reference list with an accession number or unique identifier such as a digital object identifier (DOI).
Figures and Tables: The title must be above the table and the source of data should be mentioned below the respective figures and tables. Figures and tables should be separately numbered.
Manuscripts should be only in the English language, typed in 12-point Font, Times New Roman Font, with 1.5 spacing in MS Word format (MS word 2010 or higher version). The page number should be centered at the bottom of every page.
The title, headings, and sub-headings: All headings and sub-headings must be bold in 14-point Font and aligned left. The title of the paper should be bold, centered, and in capital letters in 14-point font size.
The author/s details should be in 12-point Font with full name, designation, affiliation, contact details including postal address, official email with an alternate email if any, and mobile and official landline phone numbers.
