Message From The Dean

The Faculty of Criminal Justice is one of the youngest faculties of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), established in 2021 as the first ever Faculty in the Higher Education System of Sri Lanka, including both state and private Universities, to offer the broad spectrum of degrees in the field of criminal justice. This young Faculty consists of two academic departments; namely, the Department of Criminology and the Department of Police Science. The Faculty offers degrees from Bachelor level to Doctoral level.

The Faculty of Criminal Justice is currently planning to enroll its first intake of 65 students to two disciplines of BSc degree programmes viz. Criminology & Criminal Justice and Police Science in January 2022. The Faculty plans to enroll the second intake of approximately 100 students to four disciplines of BSc degree programmes in Criminology & Criminal Justice, Police Science, Criminal Investigation and Criminal Psychology respectively.

The BSc in Police Science degree programme is designed to meet the academic knowledge cum advanced training requirements specific to the police whilst the other three BSc degree programmes are designed to provide the academic knowledge for the employees in institutions directly related to the criminal justice system and individuals who are interested in enhancing their knowledge in criminal justice.
